Autonomy and Independence in Language Learning - A resource for language teachers and researchers. This site is maintained by Phil Benson. The site is hosted by the English Center of Hong Kong University and is not affiliated to any organisation.

Learner Independence SIG Home Page - The LI SIG was created in 1986 as a forum for anyone interested in issues of independence, autonomy and interdependence in learning. Although it is part of IATEFL, the list's concerns are wide-reaching within education.

Open Learning - This is a site of the Languages Institute of the University of Hull. It includes links to the Open Learning Center, and to PLAN (Professional Language Advisers' Network) and SMILE (Strategies for Managing an Independent Learning Environment) projects.

PLAN has been established for language advisers to share information, research and good practice in issues related to the profession world-wide.
SMILE targets staff and learners with particular focus on language advising and learner training. It seeks to bridge the gap between the provision of self-access facilities and student use of these facilities.

Learning Paths / Tante vie per imparare - This site focuses on learning styles, learning strategies and learner autonomy. Learning Paths is specifically devoted to research and action for promoting learner autonomy. The focus is mainly, but not exclusively, on second language learning, with ample opportunities for cross-curricular work.

Ciel Language Support Network Promoting independent language learning - one of eleven national language projects in Britain. The main aim of the project is to identify and disseminate best practice in the area of independent learning and its integration with the language curriculum through regional networks developed around each of the 3 project partners : Leeds Metropolitan University, South Bank University and University of Southampton.

Learner Independence - The TESOL Arabia Learner Independence SIG website houses a variety of articles, ILC profiles, tips on IL resources and activities, links, archived discussions from our previous list host, newsletters, downloadable worksheets and templates, events reviews, and an extensive IL bibliography.

Discussion List:
This international discussion list is managed by the Learner Independence SIG of TESOL Arabia (http://tesolarabia.org), but anyone, anywhere in the world, who is interested in independent learning, CALL, Internet, Ed tech, independent learning centers, learner autonomy, materials' creation and TESOL is most welcome to join. The aim of this list to create a network of people interested in independent learning related issues and to provide a forum for formal and informal exchanges of ideas,expertise, knowledge, experiences and advice.

Language Centers - This is a collection of links to language centers around the world, maintained by the Language Learning Center of Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

ELSAC - The English Language Commons is a support center for students from non-English speaking backgrounds in the University of Auckland, New Zealand. A specially developed Electronic Learning Environment gives students access to language learning resources and information. It also guides and helps them to carry out needs analyses, set goals and select appropriate learning materials and activities. In this way, it contributes to the development of skills for successful self-directed learning. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the Electronic Learning Environment from this page.

Temasek Language Center - Temasek Polytechnic Singapore.

Virtual Language Center - The Virtual English Center is part of the Hong Kong University English Center's efforts to encourage independent language learning through the Internet.

Center for Independent Language Learning (CILL) - CILL is a self-access center for learning English. It is part of the English Language Center of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Lingua@Net (Virtual Language Center) - This site provides quality-assured information and resources on-line for language teachers, learners and researchers. The site was developed by CiLT, the Center for Information on Language Teaching and Research, and BECTa, the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency.

Center for Research into Second Language Research and Pedagogy - This Center is part of the School of Education at the University of Nottingham.
