LANG 106

In line with general University guidelines, The Language Center's official minimum attendance requirement for all LANG non-elective courses is 80% (inclusive of the Add/Drop period).

  1. If a student misses 6 or more classes in each semester, then she/he will fail the course and will have to retake the whole course (i.e. both semesters) the following year.

  2. Warnings:

    1. After missing 3 classes (in total i.e. not consecutive), a warning letter will be sent to the student and copied to the department.
    2. After missing 6 lessons, the student fails. A letter will be sent to the student and the department and ARR will be notified.

  3. Permission of leave will be given in special cases of prolonged leave taken by students for such reasons as serious illness or injuries on production of documentary evidence (i.e. a doctor's note), and these absences will not be counted.

  4. Policy regarding late arrivals and early departures (tardiness):

    1. A student arriving ten minutes late for class or leaving early without permission will be given a "tardy" mark.
    2. Three "tardies" will result in a reduction of the student's participation mark. If six or more tardies are accumulated over a semester, the student will receive 0 mark for participation.
