The Language Commons is for YOU - All Undergraduates, Postgraduates and Staff at HKUST.
The Language Commons is a place where you can find all sorts of multi-media resources and materials to help you improve any aspect of your
language learning. If you want to improve your listening skills for example, you can come and watch a movie whilst at the same
time reading the transcript to make sure you follow what the actors say. You can watch videos on presentation skills, and then
record your own presentation in one of the seminar rooms. You can work on your writing skills, develop reading skills, revise forgotten
grammar, increase your vocabulary, improve aspects of your pronunciation, join an activity and meet discussion/conversation partners to practise your
speaking skills, fine-tune your résumé, practise your interview skills and so much more! You can do almost anything you like to
improve your language ability in a wide range of Languages. There are also friendly and helpful
Language Advisers on duty every day. They will help you improve your writing and speaking skills through face-to-face advice sessions. The Language Commons is here for you and the Language Advisers are here to help you. Why not come and see what it's like?
